Volkswagen XL1

Volkswagen has launched its newest future car at the Qatar Motor Show in late January 2011. A hybrid car which is extremely fuel-efficient combination of an electric motor/internal combustion engine with fuel consumption of 0.9 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions only 24 grams/km. Breakthrough of the new generation of a future car with fuel consumption very frugal by introducing the New Volkswagen XL1.

This result obtained from a combination of lightweight construction (monocoque and parts made of carbon fiber materials) and plug-in hybrid system consisting of two-cylinder TDI engine (35 kW / 48 PS), E-motor (20 kW / 27 PS), 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG) and lithium-ion battery. The advantage of plug-in hybrid is a Volkswagen XL1 can be driven up to 35 km in pure electric mode with zero emissions. The battery also can be charged from household power so that it can be reused.

Future Car The New Volkswagen XL1

The New Volkswagen XL1 is the third generation of the Volkswagen 1-litre concept car, previously the first generation has been shown to the public in 2002 that has the external dimensions of the car with a length of 3.47 m (11.4 ft), width 1.25 m (4.1 ft) and height of 1.1 m (3.6 ft), the car is also very lightweight only 290 kg (639 lb) for the empty weight of the vehicle because the components are designed for light weight including engines, wheels (carbon fiber), brakes (aluminum ), suspension, transmission, bearings (ceramic), hubs (titanium), interior and so on with fuel consumption of 0.99 per 100 km.

In 2009, launched the second generation of the Volkswagen 1-litre concept car named Volkswagen L1 which weighs 381 kg (840 lb) with fuel consumption of 1.38 per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 39 g / km. VW L1 can reach a top speed of 158 km/h (99 mph) with 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) because the engine operates in two modes, each giving eco mode 5.2 kW (7 bhp) and sport mode 21.6 kW (29 bhp).

The latest Volkswagen 1-litre concept car in 2011 claimed to be the design for a new era with the external dimensions of the car is the length 3,888 mm, width 1,665 mm and height 1,156 mm. Volkswagen Polo has a length and width are almost the same but higher (1,462 mm). The height of the VW XL1 is similar to the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (1,184 mm). Volkswagen mention that it is easy to visualize just how spectacular such a Volkswagen XL1 would appear on the road, as long and wide as a Polo but with a low profile like a Lamborghini.

Hybrid Car Volkswagen XL1

At full power the New Volkswagen XL1 with the hybrid system accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 11.9 seconds, top speed is 160 km/h (electronically limited), an electric motor that provides 100 Newton meters of torque from the stops, working as booster to support the TDI engine (120 Newton meters of torque). TDI and E-motor together will provide a maximum torque of 140 Newton meters in boosting the mode.

With the new XL1, Volkswagen shows that the purpose of strategy Volkswagen 1-litre concept car has been proven.
