One more achievement carved by German car manufacturer Volkswagen, Volkswagen Passat Bluemotion broke the Guinness Book of World Records as the most economical car with fuel consumption average of 38.26 km / liter of fuel more efficient than that claimed by VW 22.47 km / liters of fuel in October 2010. With a 1.6 L TDI engine common-rail turbodiesel 105 hp capable of driving up to 1,526.63 miles (about 2,457 km) only with the fuel in the tank of 77.25 liters.

According to the jurors, Volkswagen Bluemotion types are among of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the market based on Volkswagen’s common-rail diesel engines, let’s say Bluemotion Passat which can travel about 1,000 miles on one tank of fuel. The previous World Green Car winners are in 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid, in 2007 Mercedes-Benz E320 BlueTEC, in 2008 the BMW 118d with Efficient Dynamics and in 2009 Honda FCX Clarity.
